I enjoy painting using a variety of media—watercolor, acrylic, oil, and gouache. Each presents its own unique challenges and rewards. I enjoy the immediacy of watercolor, the vibrancy of acrylic, and the blending ability of oil. I also enjoy combining paint with other media; when I was at RISD years ago I developed a style that mixes watercolor, ink, and sometimes color pencil, which I've used on-and-off ever since. I call this my "illustration style," for I developed it for that express purpose—to create editorial and book illustrations. But over the last few years I have found myself using other media (oil, acrylic) and techniques more frequently.
